Day 39

Do you remember the episode from the old Dick Van Dyke shows where Rob was writing skits for Alan that actually happened in his marriage, and when Laura figured it out she was really mad? I believe all who write use experiences from their own lives and poke fun at it to amuse an audience. Everybody Loves Raymond was written from Ray's real life family, and I know there are tons of other writers, whose wives must watch or read and recognize themselves in the writings. I know that I poke fun at Karen's menopause and her mood swings but I have to say that she has been so wonderful and supportive during my time down. She has been a one woman show for the past 7 weeks and I know that I would be going bonkers if the situation were reversed. Just so you all know, she is a kind and wonderfully giving and loving wife who is straddled with my as a husband. That alone is a one way ticket to heaven. (What you are all thinking....YES....she might be reading my blog)

I had physical therapy for the first time today. I was there at 8 ready to go. My PT, Kristi, was great. She pretty much massaged my foot the whole time, working on all of the swelling and explaining to me why it hurts in certain places. She did some measuring and the arch in my bad foot was 63, she said the norm is 65. The arch in my good foot was 89. She said she had never worked on anyone with an arch that much. So although my 63 was good in her book, it was really bad in mine. After I left there, my foot felt sooooooooooooo much better. I walked all day without the use of my crutches.

My pool was overflowing this morning due to the giant storm we had last night. So I started to drain the pool and forgot all about it. Stupid me!!!! Now I might need to add some water in. How foolish!!!! Only me. I remember the pool guy saying, put a sock on the floor to remind you that you are adding or taking out water so you don't forget. I should have listened.

I got some marriage counseling from my soon to be married son today. I've been doing this for 27 years and he is not even married but his incite was valid. I can't wait till he has kids so I can tell them to make sure they always give marital advice to their parents. Kyle is my 2nd son who has been so wonderful during my injury taking me to the gym and always making sure I am good before he leaves. I will miss him when he leaves.

Well, it is time for bed but before I go let me give you this advice:

Family life is a bit like a runny peach pie - not perfect but who's complaining? ~Robert Brault
